LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities continued to search for the suspect or suspects behind the vandalism of dozens of cars and businesses in Long Beach and nearby Lakewood.
At the Studio O salon, business resumed Tuesday night despite plywood in the storefront after one of the windows was shattered overnight.
“You feel violated. Definitely violated,” Maxwell Goodman, a stylist, told KCAL9’s Andrea Fujii.
Goodman said they’ll have to dig deep in their pockets to fix the damage.
“It’s expensive and also it’s like, you know, most of all of our graphics that were on the windows are now having to be replaced because they were shot down,” Goodman said.
Long Beach police said at least 80 windows of businesses and cars were shot out by a BB gun Monday night.
Detectives in Lakewood said at least 20 windows there were shattered most likely by the same suspect, Fujii said.
Authorities are now reviewing security footage.
“People were in here, customers, and employees were here. It’s just like, what kind of people can do that?” Deanna Vasquez, an employee at a Long Beach restaurant, asked.
The eatery, open less than two weeks, had to spend more than $3,000 replacing several windows that were destroyed.
More than 20 car windows were shot out on 15th Street and glass still covers the road.
“I’m hoping nothing happens tonight,” Jack Merlo, a resident, said. His truck was not damaged.
“I’ve already seen quite a few police cars coming up and down the streets,” Merlo added.
Witnesses told police the suspects may have been in a dark-colored, older model, 4-door BMW or Honda with a chrome tailpipe and loud exhaust.
Anyone with more information was asked to call police.
