Vandals Shoot Out Dozens Of Vehicle, Business Windows In Long Beach And Lakewood

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday were trying to find the suspects responsible for vandalizing the windows of dozens of vehicles and businesses in Long Beach and Lakewood.

Authorities began getting calls around 9:30 p.m. Monday about someone using a BB gun to shoot out windows in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 8th Street, the Long Beach Police Department said.

"I asked my neighbor and he said this whole block is like a shooting or something," victim Aeja Shin said.

Within an hour, similar incidents were reported in the vicinity of E. 15th Street and Ximeno Avenue and the 5500 block of E. 2nd Street.

"I was just going to sleep . . . and I hear everyone talking in the middle of the night. I come outside and everybody is mad because their windows are shot out," victim Jason Apple said.

So far, there have been more than 24 reports of vandalized windows, officials said.

Witnesses reported seeing as many as three suspects riding in car described as a black or blue four-door Honda or BMW sedan with a spoiler and chrome tail pipes.

In nearby Lakewood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department also took reports of 30 to 40 vehicles that had their windows shot.

The two incidents have yet to be directly linked.

No injuries were reported in relation to the shootings.
