Man Allegedly Found With 17 Pipe Bombs Pleads Not Guilty To 7 Felony Counts

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —A 29-year-old man who allegedly had an explosive device in his car and 17 pipe bombs in his Palms-area apartment pleaded not guilty to several felony counts Thursday.

KNX1070's Claudia Peschiutta reported that Robert Colt Wilson faces seven charges, including possession of a destructive device and possession of bomb-making materials.

He was ordered to be held on $2.5 million bail.

Wilson was arrested late Tuesday following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of the devices, which were later safely detonated by a bomb squad.

Wilson's apartment building in the 3800 block of Overland Avenue, along with three other buildings, was evacuated and traffic was routed away from the area during Wednesday morning's investigation.

Investigators said they don't believe Wilson was involved in any terror plot, but continued to search through his apartment in an effort to figure out what he planned to do with the bombs.

Authorities were also trying to determine whether Wilson had any involvement in a pipe bomb explosion at a newspaper rack in the Palms area last December.
