PALMS (CBSLA.com) — An explosive device damaged a newspaper rack in the Palms area of Los Angeles on Wednesday, but officials said no injuries were reported.
The blast near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Overland Avenue occurred around 6:15 a.m., according to Sgt. Pickering of LAPD Pacific Division.
An unknown suspect placed a pipe bomb on a coin-operated newsstand and detonated the device, but no one was hurt, Pickering said. There was some apparent damage to the newspaper dispensers.
A bomb squad was called in to investigate the scene.
No evacuations were ordered. No one was arrested.
