Police Continue To Investigate Crash That Killed Young Brothers

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — Police continued to search for a second driver who may have caused a crash that killed two young brothers in Santa Fe Springs last Friday evening.

Officials identified the deceased as 11-year-old Damian Medina and his 13-year-old brother Jonathan Medina (AKA Nathan). Both were killed instantly in the 5:45 p.m. crash on Dec. 21.

The Associated Press reported that the boys were traveling in a Honda Civic that crossed into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed. The Civic eventually hit a power pole, ejecting one of the brothers from the vehicle.

The force of the crash split the Honda in two. Officials described the halves of the car being "a significant distance" apart. The accident occurred in the 12000 block of Los Nietos Road.

At last word, their father, 33-year-old Valentin Medina, was listed in stable but critical condition.
