New Health Concern Over Hair ProductsAccording to a study published in the International Journal Of Cancer, permanent hair dyes and chemical straighteners may be associated with a higher risk for breast cancer. The study tracked more than 46,000 women over several years. Overall, women using permanent dye had a 9% higher risk of developing breast cancer, and black women who used the product had a 45% higher risk. Women who used chemical straighteners had an 18% percent higher risk of breast cancer.
Corona May Raise Water Rates 5% AnnuallySome Corona residents will pay more for their water starting next month. The Corona City Council gave preliminary approval for a plan to increase rates an average of 5% starting in the new year. More than half of residents would see their bills rise, while some would see a decrease, depending on meter size and the amount of water used. Starting in 2021, Corona plans to raise water rates 5% across the board each year for 4 years. A final vote will happen in two weeks.
