When Fall rolls around in Southern California, you can expect pumpkin spiced everything and the return of Knott's Scary Farm. Touting 11 different themed mazes, 3 massive scare zones stretched across the park's 160-acres, and more than 1000 live maniacal monsters bent on making you shriek, the 43rd season of Knott's Scary Farm firmly reiterates why they are the gold standard among Halloween themed events. Not to mention, Elvira is in the mix to add that classic noir vibe.

Taking the conventional idea of localizing a film festival and allowing multiple cities to participate at the same time, The Manhattan Short Film Festival has gone from the humble beginnings of Little Italy to a global force of volunteers among the cinema community. 250 cities across some 6 continents take on the task of screening some of independent film's most promising prospects for the better part of a week to be appreciated and scrutinized among the voting bodies. Locally, the Frida of Santa Ana will participate in the global cinematic effort. Scoring a ticket for the festival will ensure some great movie watching, but also includes you in a community that reaches far and wide among the creative folks of all corners of the world.

It seems like every weekend there is another beer festival where food is included. For thirty years, the Fullerton South Rotary Club has been cultivating one of the county's most anticipated food events with Fullerton Uncorked. Pooling a massive amount of North and Central Orange County restaurants along the gorgeous backdrop of the Fullerton Arboretum, foodies can roam the grounds and enjoy unlimited samples of each locations signature dishes. Of course you couldn't call it Uncorked without wine, which is pouring throughout. You definitely want to come hungry for this one.

Since 1992, renowned muralist George Yepes has been at the helm of his own Academia De Arte, an organization reinforcing art and culture from an elementary level, all the way through college. Born in Baja and raised in East Los Angeles, Yepes' work captures the Chicano roots of Southern California and beyond. As both an educator and an artist, Yepes continues to instruct through creation. The Marcos Gallery is finishing out their exhibit on the muralist this weekend and to miss the man's work would be criminal.
