Holiday Getaway On A Budget: 5 Hotels Under $150

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are long gone, but there are still plenty of opportunities to escape on a holiday getaway especially when hotels ring in at under $150 on a weekend night. From the coast to the desert to wine country, these hotels offer basic accommodations with a perk or two that make them a good value and bet for your holiday.

Sonoma County is a delectable mix of farms, vineyards, redwoods, coast and rivers and a farm stay is a quintessential regional experience. Located one hour north of San Francisco, the studio cottage at Full House Farm sits on a hill overlooking the woods and valley. Upon arrival you'll find farm fresh eggs, bread, jam, butter and a bottle of local wine waiting for you. For an added benefit, the large organic garden is yours to use during your stay as well. The Castle Inn has an enviable location directly across from the Pacific Ocean on Moonstone Beach in quaint Cambria. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach and wake to the sun rising while you stroll the wooden beach path or search for sea glass or moonstones. O'Cairns Inn & Suites has standard accommodations with loads of amenities including a full cooked-to-order, off-the-menu breakfast. If you've ever had sticker shock searching for a Saturday night stay in Solvang, give this hotel a try. The hotel is off-the-beaten path about 30 minutes from Solvang but there are many interesting diversions including the well preserved La Purisima Mission, the Lompoc Wine Ghetto and the murals throughout the town. The large pool area has full BBQ facilities and there's a complimentary happy hour during the week. If you've ever wanted to try the original Hitching Post in Casmalia (seen in the movie Sideways, it's just 30 minutes away on winding country roads. For a few more dollars you can upgrade to get a full kitchen if you want to cook or have more room. Laguna Beach is a close 60 miles from Los Angeles, yet the small, beach-chic town feels worlds away and makes an easy getaway for a night or two of gallery browsing, shopping and strolls on the beach. Besides having an ocean side location that's within walking distance to downtown, Pacific Edge Hotel has one of Laguna's most popular beachside bars and restaurants – The Deck.
