Best Running Clubs In Orange County

Whether you run for fun, fitness, stress relief or competition, you're not alone here in Orange County. No matter what you're training for, you have access to some of the region's best running clubs to train and socialize. These running clubs will introduce you to the best trails, coaches and techniques the O.C. running scene has to offer.

Whether you're training for a marathon or looking for some friendly faces to join you during your workout, the South Coast Roadrunners offers the support you're looking for. These road warriors welcome runners of all ages and fitness levels. This group runs a variety of paces and distances several times a week and organizes a group run at a local race once a month. While these runners are serious about running, they're also serious about having fun and host social events throughout the year as well. Interested runners are invited to the new members night held the first Thursday of every month starting at Heritage Park in Irvine and wrapping up at Lamppost Pizza.

You'll find both youth and adult members in this club training for a variety of goals in a fun and healthy environment. Take advantage of both individual and group training programs for the casual or competitive runner. The club is led by coach Bill Sumner, who is head coach of Corona del Mar High School's winning cross-country and track teams. To join, just complete a registration form and pay the annual dues. The perks of membership include monthly social events, club races and road trips.

Established in 1961, the Orange County Track Club is the oldest running club in Orange County. The club boasts more than 100 members of all abilities and fitness levels. Coach Charlie Appell was voted coach of the year by the Orange County Register and helps prepare runners for competitions through individualized workouts. Members of this club enjoy both road and trail runs. Track workouts are conducted every Tuesday night at Orange Coast College.

EZ8 Runners is a running camp for women dedicated to running an eight-minute mile. The program accepts women of all ages, shapes and fitness levels and touts being more about friendship and support than competition. Program participants learn how to run better and more efficiently while meeting other women with similar interests. Coach Christina Lucy is the founder of EZ8 and offers women tips for grocery shopping and healthy cooking.

This running club is hosted by A Snail's Pace Running Shop, which has four locations in Southern California. Each store hosts its own chapter of the club, designed to cater to the local populace. This social club for athletes of all abilities boasts more than 300 members. The group runs at least one club race per month and is known for its social events, including trail runs, beach and holiday parties.
