For those pressed for time, Rise Nation is quickly becoming the place to be for an effective cardio alternative that is a short but sweaty 30 minutes in length. The studio feels like stepping into a mini-nightclub, complete with a ceiling installation lined with color changing LED lights and a bass bumping sound system to get climbers amped for what’s to come. The layout is similar to a spin class but with VersaClimbers, vertical machines that simulate climbing. The outcome is a functional full body experience with zero impact push and pull actions. Pop out into the patio after class for a cool breeze, fresh juice, and a sense of accomplishment as you check off yet another item on your endless to-do list.

The workout is low-impact and a fantastic option for anyone looking to fine-tune their fitness repertoire, targeting hard-to-tone areas of the body. The method at Pure Barre utilizes the ballet barre, light weights, resistance tubing, and rubber balls to perform a series of tiny, precise isometric movements that tone and lean out the entire physique.

Orangetheory Fitness is a dream come true for the fitness tracker obsessed. Sessions are split into intervals of cardio and strength training that incorporates treadmills, rowing machines, TRX® bands and free weights. Participants wear a heart-rate monitor that displays real-time training zones and heart rates on screens in the studio; it’s a tool helps you to fine tune your exertion based on the levels of base (baseline), push (increased intensity), and all out (breathlessness). This training style is based on the science of EPOC (post-exercise oxygen consumption) and designed to keep heart rates in a target zone for metabolic effects that continue to burn for up to 36 hours after leaving the studio. Motivate Glendale’s urban chic studio offers the Lagree Fitness method to guests. Owner and instructor Cereza Richeson was a client of this method for eight years and a certified instructor for five years before opening Motivate. If that’s not a testament to the workout, we don’t know what is. In just 45 minutes on the M3 machine, clients are lead through an effective routine that lengthens and strengthens the entire body, effectively creating visible results that will keep you coming back for more.
