If you are looking for an experience that is truly unique to the Laguna Beach area, Thousand Step Beach is the place to go. Although it is roughly just more than 200 steps to the beach, it does feel like you are going down 1,000 steps to get to the gorgeous strip of beach hidden away from those who visit more touristy locations like the main Laguna Beach. If you are looking for a place to get away, play volleyball or enjoy the dramatic views, this beach is the place to visit. Just remember not to park at the hospital across the street because your car will get towed.

Known as one of the first hotels in Laguna Beach, the history and location of this building is a great place to venture during your day in Laguna. After a rebuild in 1888, the hotel then went through a series of changes in ownership until 1900 when Mr. Yoch combined the Arch Beach Hotel and Hotel Laguna to make the "New Hotel Laguna." The hotel was considered the place to be in 1900 when James Irvine came into the picture, and it claims to be the epitome of the "California Riviera," maintaining its prized location right next to the main beach off of Pacific Coast Highway and Broadway in the heart of downtown Laguna Beach. You are within walking distance to all of the local art galleries, stores and boutiques. Truly experience the heart of Laguna Beach from this location.

Located in South Laguna, this is the only location in the area that has fire pits open to the public and proves to be a great spot for an evening bonfire. You will see many locals gather at this beach to claim a pit because they are first come, first serve. A great event to catch at this beach is the drum circle that happens on the night of the full moon every month. It is a local favorite event that is free for those who attend and runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. You can enjoy the beats and dancing to celebrate the coming of a new moon.
