Once again Ventura County is ignored by CBS news. I suggest that the Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks is as good as any on your list

  2. Editor says:

Ron, our coverage area is LA County, Orange County, and San Bernardino county. We are big Ventura County fans! See our city guide and field trips that go there.

    1. Josh says:

What about Palmdale, we are in Los Angeles County!

  3. Marilyn says:

Who is the world determined that these are the best vets? Did they get paid to endorse these veterinarians or what? I’ve been a pet sitter for 19 years on the Westside of LA, and I’ve had a lot of experience with my own pets and the pets of clients. They don’t even list a holistic vet here, and if you limit yourself to Western medicine, you don’t know what you’re missing for geriatric conditions, arthritis, allergies, infections, etc. Dr. Marc Bittan is an extraordinary veterinarian in that category. For a good general vet, I’d recommend Bay Cities Veterinary. I’ve referred numerous clients to Dr. Brandt, and I’ve never had one who wasn’t extremely happy with her expertise and her treatment of their animals.

    1. bcb says:

I agree with you Marilyn. I have been taking my pets to Bay Cities since 1987. We’ve been through a lot with many animals over the years and they have always provided the finest care and compassion.

  4. alg says:

What about the west san fernando valley? Perhaps you don’t know how many people live in this area? There are many vets, but few really good ones.
And of course they are ridiculously expensive.
There’s winnetka, canoga park, woodland hills, chatsworth, west hills, reseda, granada hills, simi valley, etc. WHY LEAVE US ALL OUT????

  5. mg says:

5 star veterinary in sylmar. Been going there for years. Fair prices and kindness will be found here.

  6. Deb says:

If you are talking about the Emergency Pet Hospital in Thousand Oaks, they are a big Rip Off and haven’t a clue as to how to diagnose a pet. After paying over #$600.00 I was told to bring my dog to our regular Vet, because they didn’t know what was wrong with him. Thats after blood work and xrays. I brought my dog to my regular vet in the morning and he gave him an anitbiotic shot and he was fine out the door for $50.00.

  7. dogdoc says:

Best Vets? I was never interviewd. How do you get on this list. Seems like a bit of bias here. I am not going to pick everything apart here, but the surgeon from Rancho Park has not properly draped in the animal. There is exposed table between the patient and surgical instruments. Not what I would consider a “Best” practice standard.
    From a picky surgeon!

  8. ap says:

I am not sure what it takes to be considered the “Best Veterinarians in Los Angeles” especially since the list contains areas other than Los Angeles. Our Veterinarian is in Agoura Hills and not only an excellent group of professionals but compassionate also. Recently our family had to make the painful decision to say goodbye to our dear basset hound Beemie who was suffering from cancer. Dr. Marc Silverman and his staff from Agoura Animal Clinic made this process somewhat bearable by their amazing compassion. This make them worthy of one of the “Best Veterinarians in Los Angeles”.

Thank you so much for including us! We at the Animal Care Center of Huntington Beach are honored!

  10. Buster says:

    Vetinery Specialist of the Valley
    Super care

  11. MD says:

How about a reasonably priced vet in the San Gabriel Valley? My vet in Covina wants to charge me $1,000 to remove a 1/2 inch cyst from my dog’s back.

    1. jka says:

      Dr Chris Berg @ http://www.ranchovet.com

Recently *nominated* (by clients) as America’s Best Vet in the PetPlan (insurance) 2012 America’s Best Vet contest. He made the Top 10 out of 2000 nominated! And there is a damn good reason for his nomination, as all his (their) clients, including myself can attest to.

Once you visit this facility and meet Dr Berg and his staff, you will never go elsewhere.

Tell him Nitro Joe sent you 🙂

  13. Mary Z. says:

Adler Vet Group – North Hills – 818 893-6366. They are a VCA hospital, now, which has made their prices go way up. However, my guys have been their patients for at least 15 years and this is still the only place I will go. I have been involved in pet rescue since 1989, so I know more about who is a smart, up to date, compassionate vet than your average pet person.

  14. Kelli C. says:

Dr. Linda MacKinnon from the Calabasas Veterinary Center in Calabasas, CA. is the most loving, wonderful, kind and compassionate veterinarian in the world. My chihuahua, Lily, swallowed a toy and needed surgery that I could not afford from the emergency vet hospital. I went to see Dr. MacKinnon, who is not my regular veterinarian, and she agreed to perform the surgery for a much discounted rate. Without the surgery, Lily would have died in a matter of days. Lily stayed in the hospital for a week and was able to come home and recover. I have never met a person like Dr. MacKinnon. She has inspired me to “pay it forward” and volunteer at a local animal shelter. Dr. MacKinnon is one-of-a-kind and has given me more than my dog back, but she has motivated me to be a better person. If you need a veterinarian who is going to care about you and your pet, please consider seeing her at the Calabasas Veterinary Center. She and her staff is the best and they will make you feel very comfortable and confident that your pet will be taken care of.
