MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA) — Monterey Park Police Department officers Monday fatally shot a man outside the Monterey Park Fire Department.

According to initial reports, there was some sort of altercation at about 5 p.m. between authorities and the person at the fire station in the 300 block of West Newmark Avenue, though it was not immediately clear what specifically led up to the shooting.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
