Fire Erupts In Panorama City Apartment Complex Overnight

PANORAMA CITY (CBSLA) -- Residents were able to safely evacuate after a fire erupted at Towne Square Apartments in Panorama City overnight.

People pounded on doors to get their neighbors to safety as the fire, which started in the carport, spread to an apartment above.

Six vehicles were destroyed, one apartment is damaged from the flames and two others from the smoke.

It's unclear how the fire started. An investigation is underway.
