LA Zoo Welcomes Birth Of First Baby Gorilla In Over 20 Years

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The Los Angeles Zoo's Camp Gorilla Reserve has a new resident – a baby!

The LA Zoo announced the birth in a news release.

According to the zoo, N'djia  -- a 25-year-old female critically endangered western lowland gorilla -- gave birth Saturday.

This marks the first gorilla birth in over 20 years, according to the zoo, and the first for N'djia.

Mom and baby are doing well, and spent Saturday bonding.
