COMPTON (CBSLA) — Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies arrested a man suspected of reckless driving under the influence shortly before midnight.

According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, deputies began pursuing the vehicle shortly after 10 p.m. in the area of Willowbrook Avenue and Elm Street. The pursuit remained on surface streets in the Compton area, with the driver grazing at least one parked vehicle.

At the end of the pursuit, the suspect jumped from the still-moving vehicle — which subsequently overturned after hitting a parked car — and fled on foot in the 300 block of Elm Street.

A K9 unit was called to the scene to assist in the search efforts for the man.
