Amazon Opens Pickup Site At Cal State Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — If you are not home to accept your Amazon package, no problem. You can pick it up at a facility in Long Beach.

The online retail giant Tuesday opened a pickup hot spot, called Amazon at The Beach, inside the Cal State Long Beach Bookstore.

It's the first Amazon pickup site at a California State University campus.

"Any customer can have their package shipped here. Once the package arrives, we send you a text or email that says your package is here. You tell us you are coming by clicking a button. We'll have it in a locker for you ready to go. You're in and out in under a minute," said Amazon Campus General Manager Jon Alexander.

For Amazon, the collegiate partnership began in 2015. Now, the internet retail company is on 14 campuses.

This is the first one in Southern California, with three others coming this year in the eastern states.

Amazon prime members and Prime Student members get free same-day pickup on orders placed by noon. They can also drop off their return packages there.

Amazon at The Beach is on the backside of the campus bookstore.

Business hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and noon to 9 p.m. on weekends.
