Dr. Dre Detained, Handcuffed Over Dispute With Driver Outside His Malibu Home

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Dr. Dre was briefly detained Monday morning after being accused of pointing a gun at a man outside his Malibu home.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a man in a car reported that someone threatened him with a handgun when he parked outside a house in the 22000 block of Pacific Coast Highway.

When deputies arrived, they detained a man matching the description provided by the accuser. Deputies conducted a search, handcuffed and briefly detained the man in a patrol car while they investigated the incident, a news release said.

That man turned out to be Andre Young, otherwise known as Dr. Dre, the rapper, music producer and entrepreneur.

Dre said the accuser parked directly in front of his home and blocking his driveway. He asked the driver to move, which he did.

But the driver immediately returned and again parked near the same location in the median in front of the rapper's residence, according to deputies.

That was when Dre said he began recording the driver on his phone.

The accuser "insisted Mr. Young had a handgun and threatened he would be hurt if he did not leave.," according to the news release.

Deputies said they found no weapon at the scene and released Dre, who denied threatening the driver.
