FULLERTON (CBSLA.com/AP) — Seven people who allegedly beat and stomped white supremacists at a KKK rally in Anaheim are facing charges of assault, battery or resisting police.
Orange County prosecutors filed misdemeanor charges Thursday against the seven people:
– Hugo Contreras, 28, of Hawthorne
– Randy Felder, 26, of Lakewood
– Guy Harris, 20, of Anaheim
– Mark Liddell, 26, of Los Angeles
– Armando Ortiz, 22, of Santa Ana
– Nicole Schop, 24, of Los Angeles
– Alexis Solis, 23, transient
If convicted, some could face up to two years in jail.
Prosecutors say the seven were in a large crowd of counter-protesters that attacked a handful of Ku Klux Klan members at Pearson Park in February. Some Klansman were attacked with wooden posts.
Klansmen stabbed three counter-protesters. They were arrested but not charged because authorities say they acted in self-defense.
Investigators say they need the public’s help to identify a man who kicked one of the protestors in the head. Anyone with information about the man’s identity can call OCDA Supervising Investigator Stan Berry at (714) 347-8864.
