Bachelorette Parties Trade Strip Club For Art Supplies

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Bride-to-be Andrea Sherman from West Los Angeles recently walked into an '80s-themed bachelorette party thrown in her honor by her daughter and friends.

Although this group isn't the strip-club type, they found a way to turn up this bachelorette soiree with an artsy twist.

An Artful Bachelorette party costs $89 per person with a minimum of 12 people and includes a nude model, a complimentary glass of champagne, light finger food, art materials and a charming shirtless waiter.

"The more you drink, the better you draw, so everyone take a big sip," said artist Fleur Childs.

And, best of all, the bride can take part free of charge.

"This is way better than a strip club," said Sherman. "For me, I like the creative aspect of it like the activity. The strip club can kind of be dirty and tacky. This is much more elegant."

The ladies settle in with artboards, charcoals and champagne, but not before going over a few ground rules.

But there are rules.

"It's a negative-free zone. We're just gonna have a really great time. Two hours of drawing, relaxing, celebrating," said Childs, adding that the women cannot touch the models.

Once the drawing begins, the ladies are given a chance to discover their inner artist, no prior skills necessary.

"It's cheaper than a dinner, and it's much more memorable," Childs said.
