Kobe Bryant Fans Line Up To Purchase Limited Edition '24 Collection' Apparel
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Lakers fans lined up Wednesday morning for a chance to get a piece of Kobe Bryant limited edition gear.
AEG Merchandise and the Team LA Store are unveiling the Kobe Bryant "24 Collection," which features over 45 apparel items to celebrate the career of the NBA legend.
"The vision and creation of the '24 Collection' started more than a year ago when we challenged the New Era Cap design team to create items to commemorate one of the Lakers' all-time greats and most popular player in team history," Sean Ryan, Vice President of AEG Merchandise said. "An athlete like Kobe Bryant only comes along once in a generation and to celebrate his incredible 20 year career. We feel we have really captured it with the over 45 exclusive items available for fans who want to celebrate the history that they have witnessed."
The limited edition collection features two different high-end hats that were created by New Era's design team:
— 18k Gold Black Lambs Leather Cap ($38,024): The black leather caps features a black snakeskin visor with the number 24, made of 18-karat gold, affixed to the front of it. The Lakers logo is embroidered on the back of the hat, and a custom purple satin liner stamped with gold foil featuring Bryant's career highlights is set inside of the cap.
— Purple Diamond Cashmere Cap ($24,0008): The purple cashmere hats feature a gold snakeskin under visor with five yellow diamonds affixed above Bryant's name and number to represent his five NBA Championships. The cap has a custom purple satin liner that is stamped with gold foil featuring his career highlights.
A total of eight 59FIFTY caps are available for purchase in both styles. They are sold in a custom black leather box that features Bryant's number and is embossed with the Lakers logo.
Five other hats were created for the more casual collector:
— 81 Cap ($248.24): This hat is made with Swarovski crystals and the points per quarter embossed on four side panels.
— 24 Liquid Infused Adjustable Cap ($82.48): Gold color liquid metal is infused within the number 24 affixed to the front of the cap.
— Slam Dunk Cap ($72.48): This had was made to commemorate Bryant's accomplishments. Only 248 items were made for purchase.
— 5x Champ Liquid Metal Cap ($72.48): Only 824 fitted caps were created.
— 24 Metal Fitted Cap ($72.48): This is the take down version of the 18k Gold Black Lambs Leather Cap.
Jersey designs are available for purchase in two varieties:
— Exclusive Boxed Jersey ($824): This jersey has a snake print body with Bryant's career accomplishments detailed up and down the inseam. His five-time NBA Champion awards are detailed on the back neck of the jersey.
— Retail Jersey ($424): This version has Bryant's number embroidered in snake skin and includes his career accomplishments up and down the inseam and collar.
Three different T-shirt versions of the jerseys will retail for $32.48 and $42.48.
The collection also features three different jackets:
— A lambskin leather jacket that has snake skin leather accents, Swarovski rhinestones, hand-crafted leather logos, and a leather collar, cuffs and waistband. This retails for $5,824.
— A wool jacket with hand-crafted gold leather logos that has an embroidered knit collar, cuffs and waistband. This is selling for $824.
— A Varsity jacket that has a wool body, leather sleeves with chenille logos and an embroidered knit collar, cuffs and waistband. This retails for $724.
Fans can also purchase a handful of limited edition pins.
Bryant will play against the Utah Jazz at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Staples Center in his final NBA game.
