LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said a 40-something woman was found fatally stabbed inside her South Los Angeles apartment Saturday.

Officials said the suspect in her death was behind bars.

Police were called at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday on a report of a man causing trouble in the area of 83rd Street and Vermont Avenue. Their investigation led them to the apartment where the woman was found dead, according to Sgt. S. Blackman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Station.

The man suspected of killing the victim was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of murder, the station watch commander said Sunday.

Police did not release the name of the suspect and the coroner’s office withheld the victim’s name pending notification of her next of kin.
