Upon their arrival to San Marino Park, authorities learned an adult man attempted to kidnap the child about a half hour after San Marino Elementary School was released for the day.

“The child, who was sitting on a park bench, was approached from behind by an unknown adult man,” said Chief Corey Sianez. “He covered the child’s mouth and dragged the child a few feet away before the child was able to break free.”

The elementary school is located directly across the street from the park, police added.
