LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that actor Larry Drake has died.
He was 66.
Drake is most known for playing developmentally disabled Benny Stulwicz, the beloved office worker on the hit “LA Law.”
He played the role from 1987 to the show’s end in 1994. So convincing was he in the role, off-camera he said people often spoke to him as if he were disabled in real life.
The Tulsa-born Drake won two Emmys for the role of Benny, one in 1988 and another the following year.
His other roles included “LA Law: The Movie,” “American Pie 2,” “Bean” “Prey” and “Boston Legal.” He was also the voice of Pops in the animated Cartoon Network sitcom “Johnny Bravo” from 1999-2004.
TMZ reported that Drake was found dead in his Hollywood home by a friend.
