Yosemite 'Firefall' Illuminated By Sunset Lights Up Social Media
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBSLA.com) — Beautiful images of a waterfall in Yosemite National Park have lit up social media this week.
Sangeeta Dey, a photographer, captured an image of the natural phenomenon that has come to be known as Horsetail Fall.
"Every year for two weeks in February, the sun sets at a certain angle and illuminates the waterfall in luminescent orange and red, making it look like a fluid fire," Dey wrote via Facebook.
Dey said the sight of the firefall seen this week had photographers there mesmerized.
"When it ended, a few of us had tears in our eyes. Some people were clapping. And others were just ecstatic to finally get a chance to see it after trying for years," Dey wrote.
