Armed Suspect Who Hid In Santa Clarita Shed Found Dead
SANTA CLARITA (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say an armed parolee who barricaded himself inside a shed in Santa Clarita was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputy Trina Schrader says the suspect, who has not been named, was wanted on a warrant for parole violation.
The man ran from deputies Wednesday afternoon and officials evacuated several homes in Canyon Country during a search.
A resident later told authorities that his dog alerted him to the fact that the man was hiding in his shed.
Schrader says the suspect fired a weapon from inside as a SWAT team tried to get him to surrender.
She says deputies entered the shed around 2:30 a.m. Thursday and discovered the body.
