Marina Del Rey Special Needs Cat Famous For His Bejeweled Shades

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — Angelenos are famous for wearing sunglasses indoors and at night, but one four-legged feline from Marina Del Rey actually has a prescription.

Bagel the cat lives in Marina Del Rey with her owner Karen McGill. His blinged-out shades have made him famous online, where he is better known as "Sunglass Cat."

McGill adopted the special needs kitten when she was two months old in 2014.

Bagel was born without eyelids or the ability to develop tears. The fitted sunglasses, which are decorated with adhesive jewels, help keep debris from getting into Bagel's eyes and damaging them.

Sunglass Cat's Instagram page has nearly 30,000 followers and she has been featured on Animal Planet's "America's Next Cat Star."
