Holiday Closures In Effect In Observance Of New Year's Day

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Government offices, schools, libraries, post offices, courts and banks will be closed Friday in observance of New Year's Day.

According to the city Bureau of Sanitation, there will be no trash collection by crews in Los Angeles. Residents who normally have trash collected on Fridays will have it picked up on Saturday.

Metro buses, trains and subways will operate on a Sunday schedule. Buses that normally have no Sunday service will not run today.

The Foothill Transit lines -- 178, 185, 187, 195, 197, 269, 272, 274, 280, 281, 282, 284, 285, 286, 289, 291, 480, 482, 486, 488, 492 and the Silver Streak -- will operate on a weekend schedule. No other Foothill Transit lines will be in operation.

Metrolink's Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines will operate on a Sunday schedule. There will be a special service to help riders get to the Tournament of Roses Parade route. Metrolink trains will run on normal schedules through the weekend.
