And The Winner Of Miss Universe Is ... Don't Ask Steve Harvey!

LAS VEGAS (CBSLA.com/AP) — At the end, the crown was placed on two heads. And for the Miss Universe pageant in 2015, two heads were not better than one.

Host Steve Harvey inadvertently named the wrong winner. Ouch. Yikes. No! Uh oh. And....what?

The Miss Universe contestant from the Philippines is this year's winner but for one brief moment, it appeared as if it might be a repeat win for Colombia.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo was already wearing the crown as this year's Miss Universe winner when host Steve Harvey returned to apologize. Make that profusely apologize.

Harvey says it was his mistake and that he would take responsibility for not reading the card correctly that named contestant Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach this year's winner and Colombia the first runner-up.

A mystified Wurtzbach appeared stunned as she walked to the front of the stage alongside the crown-wearing Arevalo before last year's Miss Universe from Colombia removed the crown and placed it on Wurtzbach's head instead.

Arevalo also appeared speechless.

Within minutes of the stunning reversal, people watching the East coast feed filled YouTube with videos of the embarrassing moment.

Miss United States rounded out the top 3.

The final three contestants outlasted the 77 other women since the start of the competition. They've worn costumes, swimsuits and evening wear and moved on after a question and answer round that addressed gun control, terrorism and marijuana legalization.

Asked about gun control in the United States following the shootings in San Bernardino and Sandy Hook, Miss USA Olivia Jordan says it's important that people have the right to protect themselves but says "we need to look at the safety of the whole" including stronger regulations.

The pageant was held at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

As if Las Vegas wasn't enveloped in enough drama Sunday, on a more serious note, officials are reporting that someone ran their car into a crowd of people on the strip in front of the Paris Hotel and Casino.

Local stations in Vegas are reporting as many as 40 people may have been struck.

Authorities at 8:45 p.m. LA time said one was dead, 7 had critical injuries and least 11 people were reportedly taken to a nearby trauma center.

The driver is reportedly in custody. Authorities did not know if the driver ran into people intentionally. But they have ruled out an act of terrorism. Last Sunday, authorities said there was also a 3-year-old child in the vehicle as well.
