Wind Gusts Cause Trees, Power Lines To Fall Across Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Wind gusts continued to cause trees and power lines to fall across Southern California Tuesday.

Around 1:30 a.m., a strong gust uprooted a large eucalyptus tree in the area of Glenroy Avenue and Sunset Boulevard in Bel Air.

About three miles away on Beverly Glen Boulevard, a large tree fell on top of a transformer causing a fire to erupt within a parked car and fence in the area. No injuries were reported.

"I heard a break of a branch and then there was a blue light flash," said Kristen Moses. "All the power went off, then came back on again and then went out."

Meanwhile, other downed trees have been reported from North Hollywood to Pasadena.

As of 9 a.m., around 5,300 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers remain without power.
