24-Year-Old Arrested After Being Accused Of Pleasuring Himself In Front Of Long Beach Apartment Windows

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities announced the arrest of a 24-year-old man they say has exposed himself in front of windows of a Long Beach apartment building numerous times over several months.

Police said from May through September 2015, they received several calls from residents in the area of Cherry Avenue and Third Street regarding a man entering the courtyard of a building and exposing himself, according to a statement from the Long Beach Police Department.

"During the night, the suspect would stand in front of the victims' windows as he masturbated, then fled utilizing surrounding alleys to escape," the statement read.

Police increased area patrols and on Sept. 24, officers located a person lurking in an alley. They identified Ryan McClain as the suspect.

Detectives presented their case to the city prosecutor's office, which filed a case and issued a warrant for McClain's arrest. He was taken into custody on Friday in the area of Broadway and Cherry Avenue.

McClain is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on $75,000 bail.

There was no explanation for why the suspect targeted this specific building.

Long Beach police detectives believe there are additional victims. They asked anyone who has not reported an incident -- or anyone who has information regarding the case --  to call them at (562) 570-7368.
