Former 'Scandal' Actor Pleads No Contest To Knocking Out Restaurant Patron In 2014

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said actor Columbus Short pleaded no contest Thursday to knocking out a restaurant patron in a West LA eatery in 2014.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Short  pleaded to an amended felony count of assault likely to cause great bodily injury.

The actor -- who turned 33 five days ago -- was immediately sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Leslie Brown to three years formal probation, 60 days of community service and ordered to complete 26 anger management classes.

Short, who was given credit for serving 12 days in county jail, was ordered to pay restitution. The amount will be determined at an Oct. 21 hearing.

Short played the role of Harrison Wright on "Scandal" from 2012-2014. His other credits include "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Mr. Right."

Deputy DA Christine Von Helmolt with the Airport Branch prosecuted the case.
