Team Lines Up With 10 Men To Honor Fallen Teammate, Scores TD Anyway

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Arkansas Tech honored a fallen teammate in their season opener by lining up with 10 players on the field, instead of the allowed 11 players on the field.

The team organized the gesture to honor their fallen teammate Zemaric Holt, who drowned at a pool earlier in the summer.

Holt, who was just 21 when he passed away, was a defensive lineman for the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys.

The Wonder Boys took on the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm on Friday in their season opener.

On the very first play of the game, despite playing a man down on defense to honor their fallen teammate, Arkansas Tech was able to bust a trick play open in the backfield, recover the football and take it back to the end zone for a touchdown.

This wasn't the only way the team honored Holt on Saturday, as the team brought his No. 90 jersey with them and kept it on the bench on their sideline throughout the entire game.

Linebacker Nick Akins was the one who recovered the ball and scored a touchdown after the botched reverse play from Southern Nazerene.

Arkansas Tech went on to win the game, 62-14.
