Corona Father, Son Arrested On Suspicion Of Killing Family Member

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Corona police officers on Monday arrested a father and son on suspicion of killing a family member.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a call of a physical altercation involving three adult men on the 1000 block of Flaming Gorge Road, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a man was unconscious and not breathing. The man,  later identified as Daniel Guerrero, 48, of Corona, was taken to Corona Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives arrested two of the victim's relatives on suspicion of murder: Johnny White Cepeda, a 41-year-old Corona resident, and his 20-year-old son, Johnny Michael Guerrero. Both men were taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center where they are being held on $1 million bail. The men's exact familial connection to the victim was not known.

A Corona police sergeant told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that the victim was punched and kicked. The sergeant said the suspects thought the victim had something to do with a theft at their house.

The Corona Police Department is asking anyone with information on the incident to call Detective Bryan Wood at (951) 279-3631 or email Bryan.Wood@DiscoverCorona.com.
