REDONDO BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old Redondo Beach man was charged on Friday with murdering his girlfriend, with whom he had an 8-month-old child.
Roy Rodriguez Jr. was arrested after a half-hour standoff with authorities in Redondo Beach on Wednesday afternoon after police responded to a call of shots fired at a home on the 2500 block of Graham Avenue in Redondo Beach. Rodriguez was initially booked on suspicion of attempted murder. After the victim, Paige Chiarello, 20, died at a hospital from a gunshot wound to her head at about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Rodriguez was re-booked on suspicion of murder.READ MORE: Actress Tawny Kitaen Dies At 59; Starred In MTV Videos, `Bachelor Party'
The murder count includes an allegation that Rodriguez personally and intentionally discharged a handgun.
