Floating Wilmington Restaurant Evacuated Due To Leak, Crews Dewatering

WILMINGTON (CBSLA.com) — A floating seafood restaurant in Wilmington had to be evacuated Saturday after it began taking on water during business hours.

Los Angeles Fire Department boats and ground crews were called around 2 p.m. to 611 North Henry Ford Avenue, home of Chowder Barge.

The vessel, docked in Leeward Bay Marina, sprung a leak, which crews were still working to fix around 3 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

LAFD divers were called to check for leaks while LAFD dewatering operations continued. A private salvage company was expected to take over.

Further information was not immediately available.
