Sean 'Diddy' Combs Arrested At UCLA On Suspicion Of Swinging Kettlebell At Football Staff

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Hip hop music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested at the University of California, Los Angeles campus after he allegedly swung a kettlebell at an assistant coach for the football team.

According to TMZ.com, Combs was confronting the coach for allegedly yelling at his son Justin Combs, a defensive back on the team, during a workout session on Sunday.

Campus police said in a written statement that Combs was arrested Monday at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex on campus shortly after 12:30 p.m. Police said he faces three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats, and one count of battery.

While the details surrounding the arrest were not disclosed by authorities, UCLA police identified the alleged weapon as a kettlebell.

The Bruin Report online says Combs is accused of assaulting the coach and swinging the kettlebell at an intern.

Combs was transported from UCLA to Men's Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles via motorcade and posted bail, which had been set at $160,000. He was released just after 10 p.m.

UCLA police said no one was seriously injured, and that an investigation was underway.

After Combs' arrest, Jim Mora, the university's head football coach, issued the following statement:

"I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."

According to the school's website, Justin Combs is "credited with one tackle in the win over USC" in 2014.

Combs on Sunday posted a photograph with his son via social media with the caption: "Father son football game! WE WON! Happy Father's Day."

Following his arrest, "Free Diddy" was being yelled out by fans on the UCLA campus, according to CBS2's Brittney Hopper.

"He's just sticking up for his son, you know. A father is a father to their child no matter who they are," said one woman.

The entire incident was reportedly caught on video, which has yet to be released. Combs is scheduled to make a court appearance July 13.
