Family Of Man Found Decapitated Plans Candlelight Vigil For Him Monday

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  The family of Robert Hollis -- the 75-year-old man found decapitated in his Inglewood apartment Thursday, is planning a candlelight vigil for him Monday night.

The family has described Hollis as church-going, incredibly sweet, kind, lovely, a man with no enemies.

Cousin Tony Love told CBS2/KCAL9 "The most beautiful person you would ever want to meet. He wouldn't hurt a fly."

Police and his family remain baffled as to who would kill a man most known for his love of music. Hollis was known around the area as Bo, short for Bojangles. He sang with two different church choirs.

Police do not think robbery was a motive. Hollis was found wearing all his jewelry and nothing appears to be missing from the apartment. Authorities have not recovered his head.

On Saturday, the family issued a statement:

"The family is shocked and bewildered about the senseless act of violence that took the life of our beloved Robert Hollis. He was a kind and generous spirit who was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Robert lived his life as a sign artist and gospel singer. His voice touched many and his spirit motivated more. His voice and spirit will be deeply missed. We are moved by the outpouring of love and prayers from so many. May God bless us all."

They signed the statement, "The Grieving Family of Robert Hollis."

They announced plans for the vigil, as well.
