Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (June 17)

(CBSLA.com) — The warm weather continues for inland valley residents - especially the high desert where triple digit heat will continue into the beginning of next week.

The ridge of high pressure continues to dominate our forecast as the pressure center continues to drift east. It will be right over Southern California over the weekend...that should be the peak of this "heat" event.

For the time being look for mild conditions at the beach and in the basin where the inversion is at 1600 feet. That means your downtown temperatures will stay in the 80s, but as you travel inland that temperature shoots up 13 to 17 degrees.

By next week the high pressure will move into the four corner states, and while that may bring the ambient temperatures down a bit, the humidity will increase so it may not feel all that comfortable.

It also opens the door to the possibility of some monsoonal thunderstorms.
