Man Allegedly Shoots Daughter's Boyfriend At Simi Valley Home

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A man reportedly shot his daughter's boyfriend Thursday night after the two got into an argument at a home in Simi Valley.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Thursday at 1527 North Alva Circle, according to Simi Valley police.

The victim, in his late 30s, was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital. He's expected to be OK.

Police believe the incident was instigated when the two began arguing and one of them struck the other with a bat.

The father reportedly fired at the victim.

Neighbors say when police arrived, the father wasn't compliant.

"They were waiting for a really long time and said, 'Surrender,' and he wouldn't. He was barricading himself inside the house," neighbor Dakota Makulec said.

The man who appeared to be the suspect was found in the backyard of the home and taken away, in a blood-soaked shirt, handcuffed to a stretcher.

The men's identities have not yet been released.
