Man Convicted Of Sexually Molesting 2 Brothers In Montclair

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Officials Tuesday announced a 24-year-old man has been convicted of sexually molesting two brothers in Montclair.

A jury convicted Jorge Gutierrez Jr., of Rialto, of four counts of sodomy with a child 10 years of age or younger, and three counts of lewd act upon a child on Thursday, according to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.

Three additional counts were subsequently dismissed after jurors became deadlocked.

Gutierrez is accused of molesting two boys -- who were 7 and 10-years-old at the time of the crimes -- between 2008 and 2013.

Officials said he worked as an Air Force reservist, and had befriended the victims' family. During periods of time when Gutierrez was home on leave from active duty, he sometimes lived at the family's home in Montclair.

The victims -- who are now 13 and 15-years-old -- testified that Gutierrez convinced them the alleged sex acts were "an expensive massage" that are not normally free of charge.

According to the district attorney's office, Gutierrez allegedly told the victims not to tell anyone about the free massages because he could get in trouble.

At one point, he got into a disagreement with the victims' mother, and she told him to not come around the family anymore. The argument prompted Gutierrez to move into his own apartment.

After he moved out, the younger victim felt safe enough to tell his mother about the molestations. The older brother admitted that Gutierrez had molested him a day after denying the accusation.

During an interview at the police station, Gutierrez was subsequently arrested after he was caught in several lies, according to the Montclair Police Department.

"There were indications that Gutierrez, a sexual predator, was grooming other boys in the extended family for molestation," said Deputy District Attorney Karen Schmauss. "He will fortunately no longer be able to victimize children."

Gutierrez is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18 in Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court.

He faces 145 years to life in state prison, the district attorney's office said.
