3 Adults, 2 Children In Custody After Pursuit Comes To End In South LA

INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — Three adult residential burglary suspects and two children have been taken into custody in South Los Angeles after a wild pursuit during the Monday evening rush hour.

The suspect vehicle was traveling about 70 mph on the westbound 60 Freeway in Industry and occupants could be seen throwing items out windows around 6:15 p.m.

The vehicle made a U-turn onto the Mateo Street on-ramp, exiting the freeway in the wrong direction, and continued onto surface streets in downtown L.A.

By 6:30 p.m., the driver had made his way to surface streets in South L.A. and was slowing down due to traffic congestion.

Someone could be seen hanging from a window of the vehicle as it continued through a residential neighborhood, hitting a car parked in the middle of the street at one point during the chase.

Three adult suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot at Vermont Avenue and 65th Street around 6:40 p.m. and were taken into custody shorty after.

CBS2/KCAL9's Erica Nochlin later confirmed with the L.A. County Sheriff's office two children, ages 9 and 15, were also in the vehicle during the pursuit and had been taken into custody.

Investigators say the children were likely involved in the original burglary.
