Suspect Arrested In Connection With 2014 Manhattan Beach Home Invasion Robbery

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday announced the arrest of a 28-year-old man who allegedly tied up two residents during a home invasion robbery.

On Tuesday, detectives served search warrants in the cities of Hacienda Heights and Los Angeles in connection with a home invasion robbery that occurred in Manhattan Beach last year, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

Police explained Rodolfo Sanchez, of Hacienda Heights, and Milton Lavender, 27, of Los Angeles, were connected to the crime through biological evidence that was left at the scene.

Sanchez was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, and false imprisonment.

Lavender remains at large, and is wanted by the Manhattan Beach Police Department, and the Los Angeles Police Department for a separate home invasion robbery that occurred in Los Angeles.

In November 2014, Sanchez and Lavender allegedly broke into a home -- located in the 100 block of Morningside Drive in Manhattan Beach -- with two other men, according to police.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspects entered through a lower level window, and confronted the residents when they returned home.

Sanchez and Lavender are accused of tying up a man and woman, and forcing the man to open a safe, and remove cash and guns after being beaten.

According to officers, the suspects ransacked the home and fled from the scene. The victims were able to free themselves and called 911.

Sanchez is being held on more than $2.1 million at the Manhattan Beach Police Department. He is scheduled to appear in Torrance Superior Court on Thursday.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lavender is urged to contact the Manhattan Beach Police Department at (310) 802-5127, or your local law enforcement agency.
