LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —   Some Hollywood A-Listers are getting an F grade for their lack of conservation savvy in times of severe California drought.

KCAL9’s Erica Nochlin reports stars like Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson have beautiful manicured lawns in places like Hidden Hills, Calabasas and Beverly Hills — and in some cases neighbors who aren’t happy about it.

“It gets me mad because I feel that it should apply to everybody,” says Angie Luna.

“Everybody needs to their part, everyone,” says Warren Davidoff.

Khloe Kardashian seems to be keeping up with sister Kim’s water bill in nearby Calabasas.

This is happening at a time when the state has ordered a 36 percent cut in consumption — or people (even celebrities) will face steep fines.

Penalties are as high as $500 but this is, to most celebrities, pocket change.

Nochlin reports the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District says the new goals are attainable if everyone does their part and starts cutting water usage in half.

“I don’t see there’s any reason they have the privilege to waste as much as they want just because they have the money, or the means, to pay for it,” Luna says,

“It’s kind of like do the right thing, because you can’t police it,” says Stevie Bensusan.

Nochlin reached out to the publicists for the aforementioned celebrities but at press time had not heard back from them.

A recent Page Six  article in the New York Post quotes a Barbra Streisand spokesman saying the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner has cut her water usage by 50 percent in recent months.

Kim Kardashian’s spokesperson told Page Six that Kim takes the drought seriously.

There are also many other celebrities apparently stepping up to make a difference.

Lady Gaga has done a water conservation PSA. And Jennifer Aniston is provng to be more than a friend to water conservation — she reportedly ripped out a vineyard on her property after learning how much water (30 gallons)  it took to make a single glass of wine.

The Page Six article also says it appears stars like Cher and Julia Roberts are replacing their lawns and landscapes with more environmentally-friendly things like Palm trees and drought-resistant plants.
