KNX Report: LAX Security Beefed Up After Nationwide Threat To Airports

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —   KNX 1070's Charles Feldman reported Friday that security was quietly beefed up at LAX following a nationwide terror threat made against airports.

CBS2's Stacey Butler reported from LAX.

Reporting for CBS2 News at 11 p.m. Friday she said it didn't appear that there was any additional security in place.

For their part, LAX Police said they did not receive "a credible threat."

Feldman said the threat was made against uniformed airport personnel nationwide. The threat was not more specific.

In a statement Friday evening, LAX Police downplayed the KNX report.

"There are no specific threats to LAX. We are constantly adjusting our deployment strategies, and as a precaution, have increased the visibility of Airport Police," the statement read.

Police were more visible from Sky 2, Butlet reported.

A federal source told KNX that security was beefed up just after noon Friday and will continue for the next 72 hours.

The TSA said in a statement, "We routinely shift security posture based on evolving threats." They would not confirm if there was a threat.
