Motorcyclist, Driver Killed In Tarzana Collision

TARZANA (CBSLA.com) — Police Monday were investigating a double fatal collision involving a motorcycle in the San Fernando Valley.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Collins Street and Reseda Boulevard in Tarzana.

Police say a woman in her 60s driving a 2005 Honda Accord was taking a left turn onto southbound Reseda when a motorcyclist driving at a high rate of speed slammed into her driver's side door.

"The motorcyclist went through the closed window of the Honda Accord, that impacted the driver and he came to rest on the passenger seat," Det. William Bustos said.

Rescue crews had to remove one of the vehicle's doors to pull the victims out.

The driver of the motorcycle, 30-year-old Sergio Olaguez, as well as the driver of the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sunday's incident was the second deadly motorcycle crash involving speed in the past three days.

"This is the time of the year we see more motorcyclists coming out because of the warmer weather, and we're asking for drivers to please give sufficient space to the motorcyclists," Det. Bustos said.
