RIVERSIDE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — A Silver Alert was issued Thursday in an effort to locate an 87-year-old woman who was last seen in Jurupa Valley.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Betty Jean Toepfer was reported missing around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday from her home located in the 8300 block of 45th Street.

Authorities conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate Toepfer.

Detectives described her as a Caucasian elderly woman who has blond hair, blue eyes, stands 5-foot-3 tall and weighs 115 pounds.

Toepfer was possibly wearing a blazer type jacket, or sweater, and carried a black purse at the time of her disappearance.

Family members explained she wears a hearing aid and suffers from slight memory loss.

Toepfer does not drive, and is known to take the bus as means of transportation, deputies added.

She does not have a cell phone, and frequents the Jurupa Valley Library located at 8660 44th Street, and the downtown Riverside area.
