Carbon Monoxide Investigated As Possible Cause Of Death For Alhambra Woman

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday were investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman in the San Gabriel Valley.

Police responded around 12:10 p.m. Monday to assist Alhambra Fire Department paramedics with an unconscious woman in a home in the 3100 block of Norwich Avenue.

Monique Rivera's mother returned the house after shopping and found her unresponsive. Paramedics were unable to revive Rivera, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said there was no evidence of a struggle in the home and no signs of forced entry.

Investigators were looking into the possibility that a faulty water heater located in the kitchen may not have been vented properly causing dangerous fumes to be released into the house.
