LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — In an escalating dispute between teachers and the L.A. Unified School District, educators announced that they'll gather Tuesday to boycott faculty meetings.

It's the latest move by the teachers union, UTLA, to negotiate better contracts.

Teachers along with health and human services professionals will gather at their school parking lots after classes let out. They're slated to start at 2:30 p.m.

Organizers say the demonstrations won't disrupts students' classes.

The superintendent has threatened to dock the pay of workers who participate but educators say that won't stop them.
