Deputy: Suspect Arrested For Attempted Murder In Santa Clarita Valley

SANTA CLARITA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A 54-year-old man remained in custody Thursday for allegedly attempting to stab multiple people.

According to the Santa Clarita Valley Station, deputies were sent around 9:12 p.m. Wednesday to the 25800 block of Tournament Road for report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Once on scene, authorities located the suspect, identified as Michael Barela, attempting to stab several people with a knife. He was subsequently arrested at the scene for attempted murder.

Deputies explained they located an adult male victim, who had been stabbed numerous times to his upper body. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries. His condition remains unknown at this time.

A knife was recovered at the scene, officials added.

The investigation is ongoing.
